You’re probably here because you went through something painful: a loss, a betrayal, being invalidated or forgotten. And even though life always has it’s difficulties, this experience was different. It’s been days, weeks, or years since it happened, but the thoughts, emotions, sensations just won’t go away. It’s also possible you can’t point to a specific event, you just know things were different and something has happened. Now, you feel angry, anxious, or overwhelmed; It’s hard to sleep at night, and no matter what you’re doing during the day you’re on edge, fearful someone or something is going to hurt you again. You also might feel numb, disconnected, or depressed. Things are heavy and hopeless, and finding the desire or motivation to do anything is nearly impossible. No matter what you try, it seems as if you can’t get past your past.

Hi, I’m Annie
I’m a licensed professional clinical counselor from Ohio. I specialize in going beyond traditional talk therapy, helping people who are struggling with painful pasts find a pathway to a more resilient future.
When the past gets stuck, talk therapy alone is sometimes not enough. While it is a valuable tool that allows you to share your story and start to make sense of it, real healing often means going deeper. Negative experiences don’t just live in your head, but can be stuck in your body and disrupt your nervous system as well, causing what we think of as the “symptoms” of PTSD, depression, or anxiety. Therapies that focus on the body’s role, not just the mind’s, in our mental well being help us reconnect with ourselves, reprocess the past, and relearn the sense of safety we may have lost.
The process
You’re first appointment will be an extended 90-minute session. This is to give us time to explore where you’ve been, what you’ve experienced, and how things are going now, especially what areas you may feel you’re struggling in. I’ll ask a lot of questions, but it ensures I get a good understanding of who you are and your story.

This is where the real work happens! Utilizing your unique plan as our road map, we’ll work together to reach your goals. Whether it’s learning skills, processing trauma, or improving relationships, I’m here to be a guide and supports on your journey to mental wellness.

At your second appointment, we’ll work together to clarify your goals and create your individual plan to get you where you want to be. This includes talking about how we’re going to do the work, including deciding what type(s) of therapy might work best to address your needs.
