Annisa (Annie) Brown, LPCC

My journey to becoming a mental health provider began at the age of 16, when I happened to take an elective Psychology course offered by my high school. It was this class that introduced me to the world of mental health and made me realize this topic was what I wanted to focus my future career on. After high school, I attended Ohio University and received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2014. By the end of my time in undergrad, however, I realized pursuing psychology further would mean focusing too much on research for my taste and not enough on working directly with clients. Instead, I eventually returned to Ohio University for a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, which I earned in 2019. As of 2021, I am an independently licensed clinician within the state of Ohio, and formally trained in EMDR therapy.

In the 5+ years since earning my degree and becoming a licensed practitioner, I have been able to gain experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds and with many different diagnoses in a community mental health setting in central Ohio, as well as offering counseling services within a college campus setting. I have found, however, that my true passion is working with people who have been impacted by trauma or extremely negative life events, helping them process their experiences, and returning to a place of connection, safety, and resilience. I’m here to walk with you in your own journey of healing, whether you are dealing with depression, anxiety, or the after effects of trauma.
