A Path to Resilience Through Connection

It is probably impossible to get to the end of our lives without experiencing at least one overwhelming and painful event. Some would say trauma itself is a part of life. Even if that is the case, I don’t believe it has to become the rest of our lives after it’s happened.

While perhaps the greatest wound from trauma is the disconnection we experience from ourselves, others, and the joy of life, I believe connection is the remedy. When we come into connection with a safe, grounded, non-judgemental individual, we can begin to quiet the storm within us, make meaning of our experiences. This allows us to rediscover ourselves and our built-in capacities for healing.

This was my purpose in starting Resilient Pathways; to provide such a space and be a guide and support for those who may be dealing with anxiety, depression, or the after-effects of trauma, so that they may reconnect with their inner wisdom and find their path to resilience.

A Combined Approach

While cognitive focused, top-down approaches allow us to build skills for challenging thought patterns, they lack the embodied, experiential techniques that can be so helpful when working through trauma. These types of approaches, often referred to “bottom-up”, help us understand our nervous system, (re)connect to our bodies, ground ourselves, and live mindfully, all of which are extremely beneficial for many mental health concerns, especially trauma. I believe in using a combination of both of these approaches to facilitate healing, foster connection, and promote resilience.

Additionally, I strive to include the things that are truly important to you into your therapy experience, whether it be spiritual beliefs, creative pursuits, or even your favorite hobby or activity. By doing so, the entire process becomes more meaningful for you, encouraging a deeper connection with yourself as you rediscover the things that genuinely bring you joy and satisfaction in life.

By combining not just types of therapy, but evidenced-based methods with what makes you, you, we create a personalize approach together for your individual journey to mental wellness. This also means we’re not just talking about what you have experienced, but doing real work and taking real action to get you where you want to be.
